Hi, I'm Marisa

I'm a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor trained in Perinatal Mental Health. I work with individuals and couples experiencing various life challenges at my private counseling practice in New Hampshire. I offer individual therapy, couples therapy, and support groups done virtually from the comfort of your home - or where ever you prefer.

My goal is to provide clients with the space, comfort, and freedom to be open and honest with themselves and me as a witness. I genuinely enjoy supporting people as they identify and master how to make lasting changes in their life.  I intend to arrive to the therapeutic space with an outstretched hand and an open heart.  I work to provide honest feedback, caring support, and practical guidance.

COMING SOON - In addition to counseling, I offer workshops and other personal growth opportunities throughout the year. Click below for more information about upcoming events.

What I Believe

I like to think of myself as an observer and a guide. I ask questions to provoke thought and insight, allowing you to see yourself and/or your circumstances in a different light. I believe that we each have within us, the innate ability to heal and grow through our struggles - sometimes we just need a bit of guidance finding our way.

What Makes Me Different?

I get just as excited about your wins as you will!  My approach is genuine and comfortable...backed by over 15 years of clinical experience with adults and couples.  I won't simply nod my head and agree with you.  I will be engaged as an active participant in your change process.

My Why

My life experience and personality naturally set me up to be an effective counselor.  After undergrad, one of my first jobs was as a group leader for a therapeutic outdoor school for struggling teenagers. This is where my love for counseling was sparked. The experience revealed the depth and complexity of social/emotional development, trauma, personality types, and mental health struggles. While working at the school, I realized that I loved helping to create space for people to be themselves and explore creating change in their lives. I wanted to change the world by helping others change theirs.

After graduating with my Master's degree in Counseling, I worked for a community mental health center supporting adults with mental illness that greatly impacted their daily functioning.  I ran groups, facilitated staff trainings, and was appointed as the liaison to New Hampshire Hospital for clients being discharged to  our agency.  I went on to work as a contractor for the NH Bureau of Behavioral Health providing training and consultation to all the mental health centers in the state of NH.  On the side, I worked as a therapist in an outpatient clinic supporting adults and couples of all walks of life.  Eventually, after becoming a mother, an opportunity arose to be a therapist within an office of an OBGYN practice, working alongside birth professionals and I was greatly drawn to this.  I began learning as much as I could about postpartum adjustment and soaked up training after training focused on this topic.  After a few years, I decided to open my own practice supporting new parents in Barrington, NH...and here I am.
